You became an entrepreneur to be free. There are moments you feel adrift, not knowing what the next step will be. It was harder than you thought. These 7 tips will help you to regain control and clarity.

What is it that you want from life? What does your dream life look like?

What fires your passion? How do you want to contribute to the world around you?

Do you actually know why you do what you do?

1.   Get CLARITY on your WHY

“People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe” – Simon Sinek

Make sure you understand your deepest motivations, for whatever you do in life. If you don’t have absolute certainty in the depth of your core WHY you do what you do, you are adrift and it is a draining experience. Without deep intrinsic motivation you use willpower to take action. Not only is willpower finite, there are days you simply don’t have enough energy to operate on willpower only. Light your inner fire!!

Why do YOU do what you do? Seriously! Do you know?

2.   Understand Lean Operating Principles

The Lean Startup by Eric Reiss explains all the nuts and bolts about how to get maximum result with minimal effort during a startup. Model what other successful people do and find your own way. Find out how you can optimize, optimize and optimize. Take massive action, test, integrate and evolve.

3.   Weekly Planning and Reviewing

Have a quarterly vision. What are you going to achieve in the next 3 months? Get clarity on your most important points of focus. Then create a week plan every Monday. Start your week with this simple exercise:

  • Write the 5 most important things for this week down
  • Write 5 less important things down
  • Allocate time for each item
  • Give each task a date of completion

At the end of the week review: did your plan play out as planned?

4.   Understand How the Brain and How Concentration Works

Research neuroscience and read up on attentions span. You may think you are highly productive because you are feeling tired at the end of the week.

But how productive are you actually???

Do you have an actual idea of how each hour this week was spent? With which focus and efficiency? With how many distractions? Getting into ‘the zone’ takes time and each interruption leaks 8 mins of your precious time to get back into the same state.

5.   Making success inevitable – brutal challenges

How can you make your success inevitable?

ACCOUNTABILITY! If not accomplishing something you set out to do, is going to cost you A LOT of money you WILL come into action (i.e. for me 1000€ is a lot at the moment so this is the punishment if I don’t upload 2 videos each week).

What are your brutal challenges for the next 3 months and how will you make them inevitable?

6.   Find a mentor

If you cannot pay for a mentor, then find a way of delivering massive amounts of value to the person you want as your guide and make it happen! If you give enough to them, they are bound to want to help you.

7.   Surround Yourself with Successful People

This is so underestimated!!!

In the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill this is explained as the Mastermind Concept. It costs a lot of energy to build a tribe of like-minded people and run it successfully. Most if not all high-end entrepreneurs emphasize that this is an essential element for growing yourself and your business.
